Our Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, to be the only inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative Word of God written.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of Christ, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his miracles, in his vicarious and atoning death through his shed blood, in his bodily resurrection, in his Ascension to the right hand of the Father, and his personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful man regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling power and fullness the Christian is enabled to live a godly life in the present evil world.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in Christ.

“And they were continually devoting themselves to the Apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”

 Acts 2:42

At First Congregational Church, we want to be “continually devoted” to the same activities that the New Testament Church has been practicing from the beginning.

If you are looking for a church home where you can grow spiritually in the teachings of Jesus and His Apostles, worship in Spirit and Truth, enjoy the loving fellowship of other committed Christians, and express your God-given gifts, please consider First Congregational Church of Cresco.

Wherever God leads you, we invite you to join us whenever you can.

“And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.” Rev. 12:9

Dear Friends,

What in the world is going on? How are we to understand the chaos, confusion, and conflict pervading our society in every arena of life? And, when we read the Book of Revelation how are we to understand its relevance to our situation today?

In encourage you to carefully read all of Revelation Chapter 12 and consider 6 Truths that emerge to help struggling Christians better comprehend, and cope with, the chaos surrounding us today.

  1. God’s Will Will Prevail! (v. 1-6)

In spite of Satan’s attempt to usurp God’s plan of redemption, God’s will will be done, “on earth as it is in heaven”!

  1. Satan is a Loser! (v. 7-9)

Satan is not strong enough, and he has been overthrown!

  1. Jesus Christ is Lord! (v. 10)

Jesus came to the earth to defeat Satan, Sin & death!

  1. We Are Victorious! (v. 11)

Through Jesus’ death on the cross and our death to self and faith in Christ, We Will Win!

  1. Satan is a Sore Loser! (v. 12b)

Because . . .        a. His Territory is Shrinking (v. 8,9b) – he’s confined to the earth and, as God’s Kingdom grows, Satan is losing ground!

  1. His Time is Short! (v. 12c)
  2. His Temper is Savage! (v. 13,15,17)
  3. We Are Still Safe!

As Christians remain obedient to Christ and His gospel, He remains faithful to His promise “I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it!” (Matt. 16:18)

Revelation was written to real Christians in real churches experiencing real chaos, confusion and conflict in the Roman Empire of the 1st Century A.D.

This priceless vision from God, through the Apostle John, to the Church, can continue to encourage Christians today. I pray this outline would be helpful to you as your read and meditate upon Revelation 12.

May God bless you richly, as you follow Jesus closely!

In His Love,

Pastor Tim Sir
