How long has it been since you’ve checked out the church library? Many new items have been added in recent weeks. The family and parenting section has several new titles, from authors like Dennis Rainey and John MacArthur. Also, over thirty new easy-to-read biographies have been added to that section. If you’re looking for a family-friendly movie, several of those have been donated as well. Some of you may be familiar with Feature Films for Families, and most of the new movies are from that company, and feature positive life lessons. You’ll also find many great resources for your own Sunday School time this summer!
It’s been a while since we’ve highlighted any books for you, so here are notes on a few of the newer titles on the shelves.
- Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem
Pastor Tim has recommended this as an excellent resource, and the CE leaders also encourage the teachers to use this in lesson prep and in answering questions. It’s very readable - don’t let the title scare you off. Each chapter ends with the words of a hymn, because as we learn more about our wonder-inspiring God and King, we are drawn to praise Him!
- How to Pray For Your Children by Quin Sherrer
"What are your hopes for your children? That they’ll become strong Christians? That they’ll be able to resist temptations around them? Whatever your concerns for them whatever their age or present condition, there is hope. Based on the prayer experiences of parents around the world, this book will challenge, inspire and encourage you to persevere in prayer for your children."
- Gladys Aylward - The Adventure of a Lifetime by Janet and Geoff Benge
The inspiring story of an English maid whose "life is one of the truly great missionary stories of our era." Easy to read.
