1 Peter 2:2

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,Picture of Pastor Tim

I pray that this letter finds you yoked with Jesus, walking with Him moment by moment, and experiencing His rest. I also pray that you are being blessed, as I am, by our study of 1st Peter on Sunday mornings.

God used the Apostle Peter's first letter to encourage 1st Century Christians to believe and live rightly amid suffering, conflict and persecution. I know God is accomplishing that in my life today through the "pure milk of the Word" as I study and prepare to preach. My earnest prayer is for you to experience this "growth" as well.

I know that you are struggling with the day-to-day difficulties of living in this sinful world as an "alien" (1 Peter 1:1, 17). Through His Word, God desires to "mature" you so that you learn to respond rightly to your challenges. He reminds us of who Christ is - the precious, chosen cornerstone upon whom we can build our lives. He reminds us of who we are - God's precious and chosen people, being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ (2:4, 5). Given who He is and who we are, we can see the various trials of life as momentary and necesary and cause for rejoicing (1:6, 7). Because of who He is and who we are, precious and chosen according to God's enternal purpose for His Church and His glory, we are motivated to lives of hope, holiness, purpose, boldness and radical love for God and one another.

Brothers and Sisters, I pray for God to create in you an intense desire for Him and His perfect, living Word. By it you will grow - God will be pleased - you willl be blessed and filled with joy - and our congregation will witness to the truth of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

That is my prayer. May God answer according to His will.

In His love,

Pastor Tim
